İstanbul Edebiyat Evi, Su Akar Dilini Bulur sergisi kapsamında Özgür Atlagan'ın hem anadil(ler) hem de çeviri sorunuyla uğraşan, yeni diller arayan okuma performansına da ev sahipliği yapacak.
Özgür Atlagan, Haziran 2021'de Het Generiek'in çıkardığı ve Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, SAHA Derneği ve Hinderrust Fonds desteğiyle üretilen “Letter to N” kasetinden parçaları seslendirecek. “Letter to N” (N’ye Mektup, 2022) sanatçının yerleştirme ve performans odaklı pratiğinden ortaya çıkan kara mizahî anlar ve hikâyeler koleksiyonuyla, synth sesleri ve saha kayıtlarını bir araya getirir. Hikâyeler, adalet sistemi, işkence, idam cezası, kentsel dönüşüm ve talan üzerine şiirsel bir yaklaşım sunar. Hikâyeler Türkçe olarak kaydedilmiştir ve yansıtılan video İngilizce çevirilerini sunacaktır.
On October 5th, within the exhibition All water falls into language, Kıraathane Istanbul Literature House will host a reading performance by Özgür Atlagan, elaborating on the question of mother language(s) and translation, in search of new languages.
Özgür Atlagan will perform pieces from the cassette tape “Letter to N”, supported by Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, SAHA Derneği and Hinderrust Fonds, and released by Het Generiek in June 2021. “Letter to N” brings together synths and field recordings with a collection of dark humorous moments and stories emerging from the artist's installation and performance-oriented practice in a 30-minute compilation. The stories offer a poetic approach to the justice system, torture, capital punishment, urban renewal and plunder. The stories are recorded in Turkish and the projected video will present the English translations.
