2014'ten beri her yıl 3 Mayıs Dünya Basın Özgürlüğü Günü'nde, P24 Bağımsız Gazetecilik Platformu tarafından düzenlenen Mehmet Ali Birand Konuşması'nın bu yılki konuşmacısı Ekaterina Kotrikadze.
Kotrikadze, bağımsız Rus haber kanalı Dozhd TV'nin (TV Rain) Haber Direktörü. 2010'da Moskova'da kurulan bu televizyon kanalı, Putin yönetiminin Ukrayna'daki savaş ve işgale ilişkin katı sansür düzenlemelerine tepki olarak bir süre önce yayınını durdurdu.
Ekaterina Kotrikadze bu konuşmasında çatışmalı dönemlerde gazetecilerin sorumluluklarını ve üzerlerindeki baskıları anlatacak. Kotrikadze, Ukrayna işgalinin başlaması ve çalıştığı televizyonun yayınını durdurması sonrasında Rusya'dan ayrıldı ve ailesinin 1990'larda iç savaştan kaçarak terkettiği, doğum yeri Tiflis'te yaşamaya başladı. Kotrikadze, annesini 1999 yılında Moskova'da düzenlenen terörist saldırıda kaybetmişti.

Ekaterina Kotrikadze: 1984, Tiflis doğumlu Gürcü ve Rus gazeteci ve medya yöneticisi. 2005'te Moskova Devlet Üniversitesi Gazetecilik Fakültesi'nden yüksek dereceyle mezun oldu. Annesi, 1999'da Moskova'nın Guryanov Caddesi'nde düzenlenen bombalı saldırıda hayatını kaybetti. RTVI TV kanalında genel yayın yönetmen yardımcısı olarak çalıştı. Eylül 2020'den 2022'de kanalın faaliyetine son vermesine kadar Dozhd TV'nin (TV Rain) haber direktörü ve sunucusuydu.
Every year, to mark World Press Freedom Day, P24 organises a topical lecture to honour the memory of a friend and distinguished colleague, Mehmet Ali Birand. This year, the 9th in the series, the speaker will be Ekaterina Kotrikadze, News Director at the independent Russian news channel, Dozhd TV or TV Rain. The channel, founded in 2010, was recently shut down following the Russian authorities' introduction of strict censorship laws with regard to the coverage of their invasion into Ukraine. Ms Kotrikadze will be discussing the pressures on and responsibilities of journalists during times of conflict. She draws from deep experience having recently returned from Moscow to her native Tbilisi, a city from which her family fled during the civil war of the 1990s.
Ekaterina Kotrikadze: Born in Tiblisi, in 1984. Georgian and Russian journalist and media manager. In 2005 she graduated with honours from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University. Her mother died in the explosion of house number 19 on Guryanov Street in Moscow in 1999; their apartment was above the epicenter of the explosion. She worked as deputy editor of chief and head of the information service at RTVI TV Channel. She was News İderctor and Host of the Dozhd TV (TV Rain) until the channel shut down under pressure from the Putin administration in 2022.
